S.M. Vaishampayan, Retired in 2001 as Professor and Head, Department of Entomology, J. N. Agricultural University, Jabalpur. Obtained Ph.D. degree in Entomology in 1973 from the University of Illinois, U.S.A. Ph.D. thesis was related to visual and spectral specific responses of green house whitefly. In 1973 itself a systematic work was started on light trap studies at Jabalpur (M.P.). Work continued for more than 25 years till retirement in 2001, completing three research projects on light trap
