Prof. Suresh Borkar was borne on 7th July, 1956 in Bhandara district in Maharashtra state, India. Obtained B. Sc. (Agril) degree from Dr. Punjab rao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, Maharashtra in 1977; M.Sc. from IARI, New Delhi in 1979; Ph. D. from IARI, New Delhi in 1983; Post Doctorate from INRA, France in 1984 and D. Sc. from University of Washington, U. S. A. in 1999 in the subject of Plant Pathology. After returning from France, joined as Assistant Professor of Plant Pathology in 1985
